Copper Monarch with Chalcedony
Monarch hind wing encased in glass with oxidized copper. Pale orange with white spots in the margin and black veins that contour the lines of the cat eye shape of the glass and copper. I created multiple circle in metal to harbor the wing and accented with a Chalcedony briolette bead.
The monarch butterfly is a migratory butterfly the heads both north and south annually. Both Mexican and international efforts are underway to protect the millions of Monarchs that migrate to Mexico. In California, nearly all the roosting sites face threatening development.
"Chalcedony is useful for balancing the energy of the body, mind, emotions and spirit. It is a stone to encourage "brotherhood" among all. It symbolizes benevolence and good will, the benevolence stemming from the nurturing energy within the stone. It alleviates hostilities, irritability, and melancholy. It enhances generosity, responsiveness, and receptivity."
